Committee Members

The NEYCAG committee currently consists of:

Paula Park - Chair of the Committee - (Business and Decision)

Paula graduated in 2003 from Newcastle University with BA (Hons) in French and German then joined Deloitte, Newcastle to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2006, based within Audit. Since qualification Paula has worked at Akzo Nobel and the Sage Group Plc. Paula recently moved to Business and Decision based in Sunderland to the role of International Accountant.

Paula was also Chairman of NCASS between 2005 and 2007 as well as a member of the institutes National Student Council throughout this period.

Paula joined the NEYCAG committee in 2007 and assumed the Chairman's position in 2009.

Steven Brown - Vice Chair

Steven graduated from Northumbria University in June 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with RSM Tenon, initially working in the Accounts and Audit team and has since moved to the Recovery team, managing a range of recovery, turnaround and formal insolvency assignments. Steven is also a full member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

A regular at NEYCAG events, Steven joined the committee in September 2007 and was appointed Vice Chair in January 2009.

Helena Strettle - (KPMG)

Helena graduated from Cambridge University in 2006 with a BA (Hons) in Law, Economics and Policy before she joined KPMG audit. She initially worked in the Middle Markets audit department in London for two years before transferring to the audit department in Newcastle, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2009.

Helena joined the NEYCAG committee in February 2010.

Andrew Wordsworth - (Ryecroft Glenton)

Andrew studied at Northumbria University for a BA (Hons) in Accountancy, graduating in 2005, before returning to his native Cumbria to begin a training contract a local firm. On qualification Andrew moved back to the North East to begin a role with Ryecroft Glenton, working in audit and accounts with a ever increasing role within the firms VAT department.

Derek Kerr - (Deloitte)

Derek graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA (Hons) in Accountancy and Economics. He started life as an accountant in 2005 joining Deloitte Newcastle graduate scheme in the audit department where he has remained since qualifying.

Derek was an active member of the NCASS committee before joining the NEYCAG committee in November 2009.

Gavin Rackstraw

Ross Parker

Ross graduated from Newcastle University in June 2005 with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant within the Audit and Assurance department at PwC. Since qualification Ross joined the Internal Audit team at Northern Rock.

During his training contract, Ross was an active member of NCASS and National Student Council, later becoming Vice Char of National Student Council between 2008 and 2009.

Sarah Harrod

Sarah graduated from Sunderland University with a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Computing and joined unw LLP in 2002 on their graduate scheme. After qualification Sarah moved to Deloitte working in the audit department progressing to Manager. In August 2009 Sarah moved to the National Audit Office as Audit Manager in the Newcastle office.
